Getting to the conference venue or hotel

By plane

Riga International Airport (RIX) is the largest airport in the Baltic countries, and it should not be hard to find a suitable connection from an airport close to you.

The most straightforward option is to take a taxi from the Riga Airport to the centre of Riga. You can get a taxi in front of the airport – just as you walk out through the main Arrivals gate. The trip should take about 15–20 minutes depending on traffic. It is possible to buy a voucher with taxi operators licensed to operate at the Riga Airport. It costs 33.50 EUR. Or you can call a taxi using one of the mobile applications registered in Latvia, e.g. Bolt (NB! Uber is not operating in Latvia yet).

As transport has limited access to the old city, the taxi might not be able to get you to the very doors of your hotel. Nevertheless, the walking distance should not exceed some 100 m.

Another option is to take a city shuttle, which will take you from the airport throgh the city centre to the Riga main coach station. There will be 6 stops in between, mostly in the city centre. The trip will cost you EUR 8. However these shuttles are rare, so please consult the timetable.

The cheapest option to get from the Riga Airport to the centre of Riga is to take a city bus No. 22. The ticket will cost 1.81 EUR if bought from the bus driver, or 1.50 EUR if you have a pre-purchased 90-minute ticket. You will find a bus stop in front of the airport, just across the airport’s short-term car parking.

To get from Arrivals to the bus station, walk out through the main Arrivals gate, cross the short-term car park, and then you should see the bus stop.

If you are heading to the conference venue or Radisson Blu Daugava hotel, get off at the bus stop "Nacionālā bibliotēka" (the National Library). You will be within a 10-minute walking distance (700 m) from the meeting venue (see the bus stop and conference venue on the detailed map) or less than 200 m from the Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel.

However, if you are heading to one of the old city hotels, you should get off the bus at the stop "11. novembra krastmala" or "Autoosta" (the next and second next stop after the bus stop "Nacionālā bibliotēka" ) depending on the location of your hotel. You will be within a few minutes' walking distance from most of the old city hotels.

The bus No. 22 arrives every 12–15 minutes (except late evenings when there are 2–3 buses per hour).

To get to the conference venue from the bus stop "Nacionālā bibliotēka", walk past the National Library building until Akmeņu iela, turn left to Jelgavas iela and then walk until the entrance of the House of Nature (the red line on the map).

To get to the Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel from the bus stop "Nacionālā bibliotēka", cross the main street (Uzvaras bulvāris), then take the footwalk on the right to reach Kuģu iela and proceed until the hotel entrance (the blue line on the map).

By train

Riga has international train connections with Vilnius (Lithuania) and Valga (Estonia). By the time of the conference there could also be a connection with Tartu (Estonia).

The main train terminal is placed close to the centre of Riga, on the right side of the city center.

If you are heading to the conference venue, cross the Station Square at the main entrance of the train terminal, then cross the street passing the Origo shopping mall (Satekles iela) and walk to the left until the bus stop "Elizabetes iela" (do not confuse it with trolleybus stop "Centrālā stacija" located just before it) and then take the bus No. 23 (direction Baloži). Get off the bus on the 3rd stop ("LU Akadēmiskais centrs"), which is in front of the entrance of the conference venue. As the bus No. 23 is rare (once ot twice per hour), another option is to take bus No. 10, 25, 26, 55 or 63 and get off on the 2nd stop ("Nacionālā bibliotēka") and walk as shown in the map in "By plane" section. Please consult the bus timetables.

By bus

The main bus terminal is placed close to the centre of Riga, on the right side of the Old Town.

If you are heading to the conference venue, cross the street at the main entrance of the bus terminal (Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela) and walk to the left to the subway to cross the magistral street (11. janvāra iela). Take left exit from the subway to get to the bus stop "11. janvāra iela" and then take the bus No. 23 (direction Baloži). Get off the bus on the 2nd stop ("LU Akadēmiskais centrs"), which is in front of the entrance of the conference venue. As the bus No. 23 is rare (once ot twice per hour), another option is to take bus No. 22 or 26 and get off on the next (bus 26) or the 2nd (bus 22) stop ("Nacionālā bibliotēka") and walk as shown in the map in "By plane" section. Please consult the bus timetables.
